Welcome to summer! The season of sun, fun and carpet stains!

If you’re a pet owner I’m sure that you’ve already come to the realization that there is no season that comes without pet stains and that each season comes with its typical stains.

Summer is no exception and no one that I know wants to be stuck in the house scrubbing pet stains out of their carpet this time of the year. That’s why we always like to have a few cans of  Spot Shot® Pet Instant Carpet Stain & Odor Eliminator and Spot Shot® Instant Carpet Stain Remover on hand to tackle some of the most common pet stains that happen around our house in the summer.

Our 6 Top Summer Pet Stains

Grass Stains. Around here fresh-cut grass is a main course on grass cutting day. Even though I try to pick up big grass clumps left behind by the mower the boys still find some. They chew on it, take a drink of water, grass goes into the water bowl and onto their chest, they come into the house dropping wet grass clippings and proceed to step on it and rub it into the carpet with their bear paws.

Blood, or as I like to call it, hot spot juice. If you have a dog that likes to swim you’re probably well aware of this stain. It’s oozzy and goozzy and for some reasons dogs like to only chew on their hot spots when they’re laying on carpet.

Watermelon Stains. Watermelon is cool treat that many pet owners give their dogs in the summer. The problem with watermelon is that a good piece is nice and juicy and dogs don’t care if the watermelon juice is spilling from their jowls onto your carpet.

Urine Stains. With thunderstorms and fireworks, summer can be a scary time for pets who have anxiety with loud noises. Sometimes those loud booms can scare pets into soiling in the house.

Mud Stains. Thunderstorms happen in the summer and with heavy bursts of rain comes mud. It never fails, when it’s time to feed Sherman and Leroy, there’s a rain cloud looming over our house.

Wine Stains. This technically isn’t a “pet” stain but in our house it’s often caused by a big fluffy pet tail knocking a wine glass off the coffee table and onto the floor. Every. Friday. Night.
